Our commitment
4 Paws Inn & Hotel is committed to making this website usable by as many people as possible — including people who use screen readers, keyboard navigation, voice control or magnification software, and people with cognitive, motor or visual differences.
We aim to meet the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.1 at Level AA. We do not consider this work to be finished — it is an ongoing commitment, and we review the site regularly.
What we have done
The following measures are in place across this website:
Pages use a clear heading structure (H1 → H2 → H3) so screen readers and keyboard users can navigate by heading and understand the page hierarchy.
Meaningful images have descriptive alt text. Decorative images are hidden from assistive technology so they do not add noise.
We aim for a contrast ratio of at least 4.5:1 for normal text and 3:1 for large text, in line with WCAG 2.1 AA.
All interactive elements — links, buttons and form fields — are reachable and operable using a keyboard alone, with visible focus indicators.
The site is fully responsive and works on screens from small phones upwards. Text can be enlarged to 200% without loss of content or function.
We use clear, legible typefaces with generous line spacing to make text easy to read for people with dyslexia or low vision.
Known limitations
We are aware that accessibility is a moving target and that our site may have gaps. Specifically:
- ›Some older images in our gallery may not yet have descriptive alt text. We are working through these.
- ›Videos on the site do not currently have captions or audio descriptions. We intend to address this for new content going forward.
- ›Third-party tools embedded in the site (such as our booking portal) are not under our direct control. We encourage those providers to meet WCAG standards and raise any issues with them on your behalf where we can.
Report an accessibility barrier
If you encounter something on this site that is not accessible to you, please tell us. We take all reports seriously and aim to respond within five working days.
When you contact us, it helps to tell us which page and feature you were using, what assistive technology or browser you are using, and what you expected to happen. This lets us reproduce and fix the issue more quickly.
Physical accessibility of our facility
Our facility is located at the corner of Hampstead and Parklands Main Road, Parklands, Cape Town. We have off-street parking and a step-free entrance.
