1. The parties
These terms apply between The 4 Paws Inn (Pty) Ltd, registration number 2021/952137/07, trading as 4 Paws Inn & Hotel ("we", "us" or "the facility"), and any person making a booking or using our services ("you" or "the client"). The facility is located at thecorner of Hampstead and Parklands Main Road, Parklands, 7441, Cape Town, South Africa (directions in Google Maps, opens in a new tab).
2. Bookings and confirmation
A booking is confirmed only once we have accepted it in writing (by WhatsApp or email) and, where a deposit is required, once that deposit has been received.
We reserve the right to decline a booking at our discretion, including where we believe the service is not suitable for your pet at that time. If we decline, any deposit paid will be refunded in full.
3. Free assessment requirement
Before a dog attends daycare, boarding or any training programme for the first time, a free assessment is required. This is for the safety and wellbeing of your dog, our other guests and our handlers.
The assessment is complimentary and carries no obligation. We will discuss the outcome with you honestly, including whether and when your dog is ready to join us.
4. Vaccination and health requirements
All dogs must be fully vaccinated before attending. Required vaccinations are: DHLPP and Bordetella. Rabies vaccination is required for all animals. Proof must be provided at check-in.
Dogs must be free of fleas and ticks on arrival. We reserve the right to treat a dog at the owner's expense if parasites are discovered during a stay.
If a dog appears unwell on arrival, we may decline the booking for that visit to protect the health of other animals in our care. Any deposit paid for a visit declined on health grounds will be held as a credit toward a future booking.
5. Behaviour and safety
We reserve the right to decline or end a stay if a dog's behaviour poses a risk to other animals, to staff or to itself. Where we end a stay early, we will contact you immediately to arrange collection.
We do not discriminate by breed, but all dogs must be suitable for a group daycare environment. Our assessment process exists to make this determination — not to exclude, but to match each dog to the right service.
6. Check-in, check-out and late collection
Check-in: 6:00 AM to 7:00 PM.
Check-out for overnight guests: by 10:00 AM. Dogs not collected by 10:00 AM automatically move into daycare for the day.
Late collection charge: R52 per hour. For overnight guests, the charge runs from 10:00 AM on the day of collection until the dog is collected, up to midnight. For daycare guests, the charge runs from 7:00 PM until collection, up to midnight.
We understand that unforeseen things happen. If you know you will be late, please let us know as soon as possible so we can plan for your dog's needs.
7. Payment terms
We accept card and EFT only — we do not accept cash. Payment is due at check-out or on collection of your pet unless otherwise agreed in writing.
A 50% non-refundable deposit is required to secure overnight and long-stay bookings. Package days are sold as a bundle and are valid only as sold — they are non-transferable and non-refundable.
Outstanding balances that remain unpaid 30 days after the due date may be referred for collection.
8. Cancellations and no-shows
Off-peak: 24 hours' notice required to cancel without charge.
Peak periods (school holidays, public holidays and the December season): 48 hours' notice required.
No-shows and late cancellations are charged in full. "No-show" means a booking for which we received no cancellation notice and the client did not arrive.
If we need to cancel a confirmed booking on our side, we will give you as much notice as possible and refund any deposit paid in full.
9. Veterinary treatment and emergencies
By making a booking, you authorise us to seek emergency veterinary care for your pet if we are unable to reach you or your emergency contact. We will always try to contact you first.
The cost of any veterinary treatment is the owner's responsibility. You will be provided with a full record of what treatment was sought and why.
10. Limitation of liability
We take every reasonable precaution to keep your pet safe and well while in our care. However, we cannot guarantee that accidents, illness or injury will never occur. By using our services, you accept that pet care carries inherent risks that no facility can entirely eliminate.
Our liability for any loss or damage arising from the care of your pet is limited to the value of the services booked for that visit. This limitation applies to the fullest extent permitted by the Consumer Protection Act, Act 68 of 2008. Nothing in these terms excludes liability for gross negligence or wilful misconduct on our part.
11. Personal belongings
Bring only your dog's food for the full stay, any medication with dosage instructions, and a jersey in winter. Please leave toys, baskets, beds and bedding at home — we provide everything else.
Anything that comes in with your dog — including collars, leads and jerseys — stays at the owner's risk. We take reasonable care of it but accept no liability for loss or damage.
12. Photography and marketing consent
As part of our service, we take photographs and video of pets during their stay for daily update reports shared with their owners. We may also use these images on our website, social media and in marketing materials.
If you do not want photographs of your pet used for marketing, please let us know at any time — by email, WhatsApp or in person. We will respect your preference immediately. Your preference not to appear in marketing does not affect the daily care updates we send to you.
13. Complaints
If something falls short of your expectations, we want to know. Please contact us as soon as possible — ideally while your dog is still with us, so we have the opportunity to resolve the issue straight away.
Email hello@4pawsinnandhotel.com or speak to a member of our team in person. We aim to acknowledge all complaints within two working days and to resolve them within ten working days.
14. Governing law
These terms are governed by the laws of the Republic of South Africa. Any dispute that cannot be resolved between us will be referred to a South African court of competent jurisdiction. The Consumer Protection Act, Act 68 of 2008, and the Electronic Communications and Transactions Act, Act 25 of 2002, apply where relevant.
This document is kept under review. The version published on this page is always the current version. Last updated: 4 August 2026. Questions? Contact us at hello@4pawsinnandhotel.com before making a booking.
